On Saturday, April 19, 2008, approximately 30 volunteers showed up to help with the construction and beginning of the children's playground in Goshen.
With abundant sunshine, energy and eagerness, the grounds were cleaned and cleared. The mulching and timbers went down to define the play area, and the start of construction on the play sets began.
Local Company Burke-Parsons-Bowlby generously donated a large amount of ties for the circumfrence of the play area.
Blue Ridge Lumber responded to the needs with mulch and equipment.
Hot dogs and drinks were abundant with Edward's Convience, BB&D Little Food Mart also contributing.
Our thanks also to Lois Thompson and Kathy Burke for the wonderful ham biscuts, ice tea and chips!
All in all it turned out to be a fine, productive day. The start of something very nice and the beginning to something great for our children.
It is planned to have another work day to erect the second play set and continue with the work needed.
Thanks to everyone that helped!
